The challenges faced by small businesses across Australia get tougher by the day,
particularly in the retail sector. Large corporations are squeezing smaller competitors
out of marginal sectors and Leading Edge members are being exposed to this trend. In the face of this, independent retailers must remain competitive, yet still offer their own point of difference based on local knowledge, superior advice and personalised service - our secret weapon - the 'people' skills! To maintain our superior level of development among our management and staff, the Leading Edge Group has formed the Leading Edge Academy: a dedicated in-house training and development cell. A co-ordinating 'nerve centre', the Leading Edge Academy's role is to ensure that learning activities are accessible, appropriate to the trading environment and are professionally tailored and presented. Leading Edge Academy has formed a strategic alliance with a leading Registered Training Organisation - Strive Training Australia. Together LEA and Strive are preparing a comprehensive plan for Australia-wide delivery of accredited training packages under the Government sponsored Australian Quality Training Framework. Initial focus will be on customer service/selling skills, retail operations and store management.
